SAP BWA (BW Accelerator)
- It is an interim solution to achieve better reporting performance immediately; without making any changes to the BI/BW application design
- In case of BWA, it reads BW/SAP BI data and it helps in accelerating SAP BW data read process and feeds these results to BI/BW queries.
- It helps to BEX reports, WAD reports, WEBI reports, XCelsius Dashboard or even enterprise Portal to that matter. Database read time has always been the single most time consuming factor in any reporting effort.
SAP HANA
- It is a permanent solution or design to have achieve consistent reporting performance
- It resides outside SAP Netweaver BW layer
- It can access other SAP & NON SAP data, including that of SAP BW
- There is no SAP BW query interface to SAP HANA
- Data sets are first loaded into SAP HANA. BI tools implemented on top of SAP HANA can have access to the loaded data-set.
