There are THREE options to perform this activity.
1) Migrate your existing system to BPC V10.
2) Copy your existing system& perform migration on the copied system.
3) Perform migration on a brand new system all together.

Option 1: Involves upgrading existing BW system to version 7.3 (SP 2 or higher), and then upgrading BPC system to version 10.0. Once these are completed, migration programs can run, which will migrate underlying BPC components to newer BPC VER 10 components.

Option 2: This option Involves copying the existing system and performing the migration on the copied system. Migration comprises of tasks: to upgrade current BW system to version 7.3 (SP 2 or higher), and to upgrade BPC system to version 10.0. Once these are completed, migration programs can run; which will migrate underlying BPC components to newer BPC VER 10 components. This option reduces the project risk substantially. There is no interference with the production system, which is an advantage as well, from risk mitigation perspective.

Option 3: Safest amongst three options, where a completely new system is set up from scratch and migration is done on the new system! With this option as well; there is no interference with the production system, hence an advantage, from risk mitigation perspective. Migration process remains the same, as other two options, which comprises of tasks: to upgrade current BW system to version 7.3 (SP 2 or higher), and to upgrade BPC system to version 10.0. Once these are completed, migration programs can run; which will migrate underlying BPC components to newer BPC VER 10 components.

AND THE STEPS ARE:

STEP 4: Check application Logs for errors, discrepancies
