Landscape: With this approach, it is a SAP HANA enebled implementation of SAP BPC (SAP’s latest tool for Business Planning & Consolidation). SAP BPC 10.0 (SP6 onwards), sits on top of SAP Netweaver BW 7.3, which has this beautiful in-memory DATABASE; called SAP HANA.

Implementation Options:

  • 1) Standard/Existing/As-it-is version of SAP Netweaver BW / SAP BPC is installed on a SAP HANA Database platform.
  • 2) HANA compatible/enabled/configured version of SAP Netweaver BW / SAP BPC is installed on a SAP HANA Database platform.

Obviously the second option is always going to be better than the first option, for the VERY reasons; why HANA is needed at the first place. However organizations can go for the first option as well, knowing that they will be only exposed to limited benefits of SAP HANA. SAP has also made this flexible; with the concept of “Coexistence” since the release of BI 7 in 2006. So, no constraints, no restrictions – as long as the benefits/limitations are clearly understood.
